Sonshine Wilderness Retreat (SWR) is a Christ-centered, Bible-based ministry which is not a part of any one church group or denomination. “…There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” (Romans 3:22-23). The following is the statement of faith to which we subscribe:
The Bible – We believe the Scriptures were written by God through people and therefore speak with the authority of God while reflecting the backgrounds, styles, and vocabularies of the human authors. They are the final authority on all matters of Christian faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
God – We believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three entities, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matt 28:18-19)
Jesus Christ – We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. He was raised from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now acts as the only mediator between God and people. (Matt 1:18-25, Colossians 1:15-22, 1 Peter 3:18)
Holy Spirit – We believe in the Holy Spirit, who permanently indwells and empowers every believer for godly living and service. (John 14:16-17, 16:7-8, Romans 8:13-14)
Man – We believe man was created in the image of God for a loving relationship with God. However, man has rebelled against God, causing separation from God. He suffers the corruption of his nature, and he can only be redeemed through faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of his sins. (Genesis 1:27, Romans 5:12, John 1:12)
